Administrative Team

Margaret Douglas, Head of School

Margaret DouglasMargaret Douglas holds a B.A. from Kenyon College and an M.S. in Elementary Education from Wheelock College. Margaret has many years of teaching experience at various grade levels, and is certified by the Department of Early Education and Care as both a Preschool and Infant/Toddler Teacher. She joined the Odyssey staff in 1995 as one of the school founders. Both her children attended Odyssey Day School.  Margaret is well loved by the school community. Her door is always open for parents or students who want to check in.

 

Kimm Sovie, Assistant Head of School, Director of Early Childhood, Business Manager, Math Teacher

Kimm SovieKimm holds a Bachelor’s degree in Geography from Salem State, as well as an M.A. in Teaching from Tufts. She is certified as a middle school math teacher and is certified by the Department of Early Education and Care as a Lead Preschool Teacher, Lead Infant/Toddler Teacher, and is Director II certified as well. A founder of the school, she joined the Odyssey staff in 1995. Two of her daughters attended Odyssey and two of her grandchildren are currently Odyssey Day School students.

 

Gail Cucurullo, Administrative Assistant

Gail CucurulloGail has taken numerous Early Childhood Education courses at Bunker Hill Community College, Middlesex Community College, and Salem State. She is Lead Teacher certified for Preschool by the Department of Early Education and Care, and has worked in a variety of preschools and business offices before joining Odyssey in 2008. Gail enjoys sharing stories about the comical antics of her two chubby, little pugs!

Lisa Samulonis, Infants

Lisa SalmulonisLisa has worked with young children for many years. She is certified by the Department of Early Education and Care as a Preschool and Infant/Toddler Teacher. Lisa has been on the staff since 1995. Her daughter and son attended Odyssey Day School. Lisa loves puppies and babies and her dream is to be able to cuddle them both- at the same time.

 

 

Debbie Terminiello, Infant/Toddler

Debbie LoguidiceDebbie holds a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Salem State. She is certified by the Department of Early Education and Care as a Lead Teacher for Preschool, Infant/Toddler, and is also Director II certified. She has worked with young children for a number of years, and joined Odyssey in 2008. Her daughter attends Odyssey Day School.

 

 

Cynthia Vozella, Infant/Toddler

Cynthia VozellaCynthia is certified as a lead infant/toddler teacher by the Department of Early Education and has her CDA certificate for Infant and Toddler classrooms.  She has extensive knowledge and experience with children having volunteered in the Wakefield School system for the past 12 years. Cynthia joined Odyssey’s staff in the spring of 2013. She is the mother of three children, two who are currently in college and one attending Wakefield High School.

 

 

Fernanda Bevilacqua-Galluzo, Toddler/Preschool, Spanish Teacher

Fernanda Bevilacqua-Galluzo

Fernanda was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina where she completed her Bachelor’s Degree in elementary school education. She has also earned a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst with a concentration in Child Advocacy and is a certified Infant through Kindergarten teacher by the Department of Early Education. She has been teaching children of all ages for the last 20 years. During the past 10 years she has been working as a Spanish teacher in various schools in the North Shore area, and joined the Odyssey Day School staff in 2008.

 

 

Julie Fauvel, Pre K

Julie FauvelJulie has a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of New Hampshire. She has also taken additional specialized coursework in Early Childhood Education from North Shore Community College. This enabled her to become certified through the Department of Early Education and Care for the State of Massachusetts for Infant, Toddler and Preschool. As a result, Julie has experience working with children infant through school age. Julie joined Odyssey Day School in 2010 as the Head PreK Teacher. Julie recently took up running as a hobby and her experiences with the Tough Mountain Challenge well prepared her for playground freeze tag.

 

Kerry Liard, Pre K/Kindergarten

Kerry LiardKerry holds a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Salem State and a Master’s of Education/Early Childhood from American International College. She has extensive experience working with children of various ages and meets Department of Early Education and Care requirements as an Infant/Toddler Lead Teacher, Lead Preschool Teacher, and is also Director I and II certified. Kerry joined the Odyssey Day School staff in 1997. Her older daughter is a graduate of ODS and her younger daughter and son currently attend. Kerry is a huge Boston sports fan. Go Sox!

 

Michelle Swanson, Grade 1-2

Michelle SwansonMichelle Swanson holds a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with a second concentration in Geography from Salem State College. She is certified by the Department of Early Education and Care as a Infant/Toddler, Toddler and Preschool Teacher. Michelle also helps out in the Elementary. She joined Odyssey Day School in 2010. Michelle resides in Saugus with her husband Chris and their two sons, Brandon and Beso (an adorable 2 year old Chihuahua/Papillon Mix)! Students bond with her over a mutual love for anything “Hello Kitty”.  Her son attends Odyssey.

 

Stephanie Wilkins, Grade 3-4

Stephanie WilkinsStephanie holds a B.A. in Psychology from North Adams State College and an M.Ed. in Expressive Therapies from Lesley University. She is certified through EEC for Infant/Toddler/Toddler/Preschool. She has extensive experience teaching children of various ages and has held several administrative positions in the Human Services field. She is certified through the NCTL to teach an integrated Engineering/Science curriculum Engineering is Elementary. Stephanie joined the Odyssey Day School staff in 2000. Her son is a graduate of Odyssey Day School.

 

 

Bob Defandorf, Grades 5-6

Bob DefandorfBob joined the Odyssey Day School staff in 2010. He holds a B.A. in English from Wesleyan University, a M.Ed. in Elementary Education from Lesley University, and a license in Elementary Education from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. He has taught in Malden, Somerville, and Belmont, as well as at LEtGO Your Mind summer camps. His son is an Odyssey Day School alumni. Bob is renowned for being able to fix almost anything from pulley systems to paragraph structure.

 

 

Carly Cavanagh, Grade 7-8

Carly joined the Odyssey Day School staff at the beginning of 2016.  She holds a B.A. in Political Science and Astrophysics, with a concentration in Spanish, from Wheaton College.  Previously, Carly was a director at a non-profit, representing schools throughout Massachusetts.  She has lead elementary school reading programs through the Clinton Foundation and worked on several programs to advocate for hands on science programs in schools.  Carly’s children, Jacob and Julia, are both elementary students at Odyssey.

 

Assistant Teachers

Michele Mawdsley

Michele MawdsleyMichele holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Endicott College. She is certified by the Department of Early Education and Care as a Lead Teacher for both Preschool and Infant/Toddler. She has been working in early childhood education programs for many years, and joined the Odyssey Day School staff in 2008.

 

 

Ann Marie Murphy, Pre K Assistant Teacher

Ann Marie MurphyAnn Marie attended Massachusetts Bay Community College. She is lead teacher certified and has obtained her Child Development Associate Certificate. Ann Marie has many years of experience working with children, and has a special interest in crafts.

 

 

 

Virginia Berryan,  Assistant Teacher

Virginia joined the Odyssey Day School staff in April of 2017. She is a long time resident of Wakefield and graduated from Westfield State College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education.  She is certified by the Department of Early Education and Care as an Infant/Toddler and Preschool Teacher. Virginia truly believes that a child directs their learning through play and that a classroom represents their many interests.

 

Samantha Crones, Assistant Teacher

Sam joined Odyssey in May 2012 as an aide in the after school and summer programs. She is currently enrolled in the Bachelor’s degree program for Early Education and Care at Salem State University. Sam is certified by the Department of Early  Education and Care as an Infant/Toddler Teacher and a Preschool Teacher. Sam plans to pursue her M.Ed. in Early Childhood Education.

 

Naima El Machmachi, Teacher Aide

Naima joined the Odyssey Day School staff in November 2015. She is working towards her Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education at Bunker Hill Community College. Naima has many years of experience working with children and she is the mother of two children, ages 7 and 8.

 

 

Meena Kumari, Teacher Aide

Meena joined the staff at Odyssey Day School in September 2016.  She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Education and a Master’s degree in Chemistry from Punjab University in India. Meena  has many years of experience working with children of  all ages and she is the mother of two children, ages 10 and 3.

 

Mayra Leon, Teacher Aide

Mayra joined the staff at Odyssey Day School in August of 2015.  She is enrolled in the Early Childhood Education Program at North Shore Community College.  Mayra has worked with children for many years as a church volunteer.  She has also recently become a new Mom to a beautiful baby boy!

 

Hannah McSheehy, After School Teacher Aide

Hannah joined the Odyssey Day School staff in March of 2016 as an aide in the after school program.  She is currently a junior at Wakefield Memorial High School and enjoys working with children.

 

Jane Yardumian, After School Teacher Aide

Jane joined the Odyssey Day School staff in November of 2015 as an aide in the after school program.  She is currently a senior at Wakefield Memorial High School and loves working with children. After high school Jane plans on attending college and is interested in studying pediatrics and psychology.

Specialists

 

Maureen Keen, P.E.

Maureen graduated from Northern Essex Community College with an A.S. in Mental Health Technology and an A.S. in Movement Sciences. After working as an Administrator for many years in the field of Human Services, she has returned to school to pursue a degree in Exercise Science with a concentration in the area of Outdoor Education. She enjoys hiking, walking, and participating in fitness challenges.  Her son Jeremy is a graduate of Odyssey.

Emily Roos, Art

Emily studied music at Indiana University earning a BMus and MMus. She has taught both in the classroom, private lessons and as a music director for Arlington Children’s Theater. She is also an active performer in the Boston area. Her favorite job is “mom” to her two children and a 3 legged cat and 3 legged dog.

 

Noel Li, Music

Noel holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Wheaton College in Illinois and a Master’s of Science in Education from the University of Pennsylvania. Noel joined the staff at Odyssey Day School in September  2016.  Noel’s teaching experience includes music lessons to students of a wide age and ability range, from preschool age to PhD candidates at Cornell.
