International Week 2012

In keeping with the school's year-long theme of Faces and Places in History, the focus of January's International Week is Celebrating World Cultures. Each class will study a different country, and with passports in-hand, Pre-K through Grade 8 students will visit each others' classrooms during the school day to experience another piece of the world by making a craft or playing a traditional game.

On Thursday, January 26th, there will be a special International Evening from 6:30-8pm to coincide with an Open House for prospective families. Prospective families are also invited to visit Odyssey from 9:30-11 a.m.

These are the countries being studied by each class:

Infant/Toddler: Native America
Preschool Andrea: Italy
Preschool Jamie/Deb: Canada
Preschool Michelle: Ireland
PreK Julie: India
PreK-K Kerry: Japan
Grade 1-2: Brazil
Grade 3-4: China
Grade 5-6: France
Grade 7-8: Spain
Afterschool: Mexico

Through International Week, Odyssey students are encouraged to celebrate the diversity of the world and to nurture respect for traditions and for people, propelling the Odyssey tradition as a community of caring and curious learners.
