The moment your child enters the doors of Odyssey Day School he or she embarks on an educational journey.

Much like the legendary hero, Odysseus, from whose story we take our name, your child will voyage to new places, meet new people, and learn much about themselves and the world around them.

An Odyssey Day School, we believe that the best learning happens when children feel accepted, connected, and loved. Within that context of security, we encourage our children to be curious, to be engaged, and to take intellectual risks.

We have an inclusive school community that celebrates diversity and gives each child the confidence to contribute his or her unique gifts as they learn positive ways to engage and cooperate with each other for the common good of the group.

Our educational staff creates a dynamic curriculum that is designed to engage the whole child and foster social, emotional, intellectual, and physical development. Our students learn critical thinking skills that serve them for the rest of their lives.

Helping your child set sail on their own educational adventure.

We will challenge your child to discover his or her best self in a supportive, safe environment that invites bold, intellectual risk-taking and goal-setting. Our teachers act as coaches in nurturing your child — academically, socially, and developmentally — giving them the space and permission to explore what makes them unique and what excites them about learning.

At Odyssey, we know that the more actively we engage your child, the more he or she will learn. That’s why we’re committed to extending learning beyond the classroom, encouraging curiosity and inviting our students to engage mindfully in the world around them in a variety of ways, depending on age.

Our classroom instruction includes many projects, field trips, and special events that are designed to extend and enhance the learning of traditional academic basics. Through “hands-on” work, your child will be encouraged to make real-life connections to the material they are studying, thus producing a continuum of powerful learning experiences that result in a strong academic foundation for your child.

Each year your child, along with their peers, will embark on an “odyssey,” a school-wide theme that guides the education and curriculum for the year. Each year’s theme is chosen by the faculty to unite the entire school community, and each classroom explores its own, more focused curriculum related to the larger school-wide theme.

Through the lens of the year’s theme, age-appropriate skills and content are addressed with a “web” of integrated programming. All areas of study are tied to that theme, and your child will continue to work on the skills for each subject area in the context of the theme.
