Early Childhood

Our early childhood program includes infants through preschool-age children. Whenever your child enters Odyssey, you can be sure they will have teachers who are loving and nurturing, as well as experts at keeping them engaged and excited about learning. Your child will love coming to school every day.

Infants and Toddlers

The thing most families love best about our infant and toddler room is the amount of personal interaction their children receive. Our teachers love to hold and snuggle your babies. Every aspect of your child’s day, from curriculum to child care, is done in a nurturing and supportive way.

We are happy to meet any of your family’s individual needs and preferences, such as cloth diapers, dietary needs including allergies, accommodating breastfeeding families, etc. We are happy to work collaboratively with you to figure out the best option for your individual circumstances.

Our infant/toddler rooms provide experiences that help children to begin to explore their world. Your child will have opportunities to interact with books and listen to stories, sing, listen to music, dance, and use rhythm instruments. Art materials, blocks, stacking and sorting toys, and simple puzzles are incorporated into the plans for each day, and outdoor time is built in year-round for your child to enjoy the fresh air.

Preschool

Our preschool curriculum is designed to be flexible and to follow the interests of the children in the room. Your child will have opportunities to engage in theme-based units that last anywhere from two to six weeks, depending upon student interest. We craft each unit to capture your child’s imagination while giving them a chance to explore and grow. As a preschooler, your child will spend more time in directed group activities, but will also be encouraged to make appropriate, independent choices and begin to take some responsibility for themselves and their classroom.

Preschool classrooms are arranged by interest areas, so your child can explore a broad variety of materials and media throughout the day. A daily meeting or Circle Time will help orient your child to the day’s scheduled activities. Each classroom schedule includes time for individual, small group, and large group activities, active play, and quiet periods. Schedules are comfortably predictable, but flexible enough to allow for special events and spontaneous fun.
